Xiaomi has unveiled its first electric car, the SU7 sedan, which boasts a maximum 101kWh battery and 800V charging architecture. With a range of 800 kilometers based on the Chinese standard, the SU7 is positioned as a competitor in the electric vehicle market.

Available in two versions, the regular SU7 features a rear-wheel drive design and a 73.6kWh battery, as reported by Engadget. This version supports 400V charging, while the top model, the SU7 Max, comes equipped with all-wheel drive and the larger 101kWh battery with 800V charging architecture.

The SU7 Max offers impressive charging capabilities, with the ability to provide a range of 220 km with just 5 minutes of charging or 510 kilometers with 15 minutes of charging. Both versions share the same dimensions, measuring 4997 meters in length, 1963 meters in width, and 1440 meters in height.

Featuring the HyperOS operating system and powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8295 SoC, the SU7 boasts a central 16.1" 3k infotainment screen that supports casting from Xiaomi phones. Additionally, the car is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, offering seamless connectivity for users. The interior of the car also includes holders for Xiaomi Pad-tablets located behind the front seats.

Both versions of the SU7 are equipped with Nvidia Drive Orin processors for autonomous driving functions, with the Max model featuring an additional processor. These processors work in conjunction with various sensors, including a lidar sensor on the roof, to enable autonomous driving capabilities. Xiaomi has ambitious plans to test autonomous cars in over a hundred Chinese cities by the end of 2024.

While Xiaomi has not yet confirmed if the SU7 will be available in Europe or disclosed pricing details, the company announced its intentions to enter the electric car market in 2021. Mass production is expected to begin in the first half of 2024, signaling Xiaomi's commitment to becoming a major player in the electric vehicle industry.
