The Dutch State Inspectorate of Digital Infrastructure has imposed a fine of 175,000 euros on Odido. The provider has been found to have improperly processed traffic data from 2.5 to 4.5 million customers between 2018 and 2019.

The RDI issued the fine to Odido for processing traffic data in a collaboration project with Statistics Netherlands. According to the government agency, privacy-sensitive data such as call times and caller locations were processed for this project, which is permitted under certain circumstances but was not compliant with the Telecommunications Act for this specific project with CBS.

Even though Odido violated regulations by processing the data from early 2018 to late 2019, the RDI has stated that their investigation showed no significant consequences or risks resulting from this breach. The collaboration project between Odido and CBS was terminated in early 2020, and no further violations have been found by the RDI since then. The two entities worked together to analyze the movement patterns of large groups of individuals.
