In Palm Beach Gardens, FL, families facing childhood cancer have found a supportive ally in the unique foundation known as Pediatric Oncology Support Team (POST). Over the past 25 years, more than 2200 children and their families have received invaluable support from POST, which was celebrated during the 2023 Annual Gold Ribbon Heroes Luncheon on May 10. This non-profit organization raised over $290,000 towards their mission of offering compassionate emotional and financial assistance to help local families bravely confront childhood cancer.

The luncheon, themed "Royal Jubilee," featured a raffle, a silent auction, and welcomed over 200 supporters at the elegant Frenchman's Reserve Country Club. Attendees were greeted by palace guards before entering the London-inspired gala with live music reminiscent of the Beatles era. Guests were welcomed by event chair Lori McAlear and POST Board Chair Penny Payne, along with emcee Shannon Cake, who shared her personal connection with POST.

Dr. Barbara Abernathy, President and CEO of POST, highlighted the successes and challenges faced by families dealing with childhood cancer. Elijah Holland and his father, Jay Holland, were honored guests, sharing their journey with cancer and the support they received from POST during their difficult times.

After a heartwarming Call to the Heart auction led by Jay Zeager, the event culminated with a generous $130,000 donation from Brandon Phillips and Polo for Life. Dr. Barbara Abernathy expressed gratitude for the community's support, emphasizing the importance of POST's assistance in guiding families through the challenges of childhood cancer treatment.

This year's luncheon committee included Event Chair Lori McAlear and Men's Gold Ribbon Ambassador Vic Koziura. Pediatric Oncology Support Team (POST) ensures that no family faces their child's cancer journey alone, providing essential emotional and financial support to local children and their families.
