The Dutch semiconductor manufacturer Nexperia has become a target of a ransomware attack. The perpetrators behind the attack have threatened to release all stolen sensitive information from the company unless Nexperia agrees to pay a ransom.

Nexperia made an announcement on Friday, as reported by RTL News, confirming that the company has been a victim of ransomware within the last month. However, they have chosen not to disclose detailed information regarding the attack. Nevertheless, the incident has been reported to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, and an investigation is currently underway. Nexperia stated, "We took prompt action and isolated the affected systems."

The hackers are reportedly affiliated with a relatively new group known as Dunghill, as revealed by RTL Nieuws through its own examination of the breach. Allegedly, they have obtained hundreds of gigabytes of confidential information, including proprietary chip designs and customer data. Dunghill has proceeded to release a number of confidential documents on the dark web to support their demands. RTL Nieuws has authenticated these documents. The exact ransom amount requested by the group remains undisclosed.
