Tuxedo has unveiled the latest iteration of its Linux gaming laptop lineup with the launch of the Sirius 16 Gen 2. This new model, while bearing many similarities to its predecessor, boasts a significant upgrade in the form of a more powerful processor. Featuring a 16" display, the Sirius 16 Gen 2 is equipped with a Ryzen 7 8845HS CPU paired with a Radeon RX 7600M XT GPU. The Tuxedo Sirius 16 Gen 2 follows in the footsteps of the Gen 1, which made its debut towards the end of the previous year. Sporting a 16.1" WQHD IPS display with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 165Hz, this laptop offers a peak brightness of 300cd/m². Notably, it supports up to 96GB of DDR5-5600 memory, setting it apart from its predecessor. Additionally, the laptop features a USB 4.0 port and an HDMI 2.0 connection, allowing users to connect up to three external displays.
Keeping in line with its predecessor, the physical dimensions of the device have remained unchanged. Measuring 36.8x26.6x2.2cm and weighing 2.3kg, the laptop houses an 80Wh battery for extended usage. The standout feature of the Sirius 16 Gen 2 lies in its upgraded CPU. Swapping out the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS CPU found in the Gen 1, the Gen 2 comes equipped with a Ryzen 7 8845HS SoC boasting eight cores, sixteen threads, and a maximum clock speed of 5.1GHz. The GPU, however, remains the same, with the laptop featuring both an integrated Radeon 780M GPU and a Radeon RX 7600M XT.
Out of the box, the laptop runs on the Tuxedo OS, a variant based on Ubuntu with the KDE Plasma desktop environment. Users also have the option to choose from other operating systems such as Ubuntu and Kubuntu. The starting price for the base model, which includes 16GB of memory and a 500GB NVMe PCI-e 3.0 SSD, is set at 1699 euros. With its improved processor and impressive memory capacity, the Sirius 16 Gen 2 promises a seamless gaming experience for Linux enthusiasts.
