Atos incurred a loss of 3.44 billion euros in the past year. This information was disclosed by the French IT company on Tuesday. Atos has been facing financial difficulties for a while now. In anticipation of a potential bankruptcy, multiple Dutch authorities are implementing precautionary measures.

On Tuesday, Atos released its financial results for 2023, revealing the 3.441 billion euro loss, primarily due to a write-down exceeding 2.5 billion euros. In 2022, Atos had also reported a loss exceeding 1 billion euros. By the end of last year, Atos had accumulated a debt of 4.65 billion euros.

Atos has been experiencing financial struggles for a considerable period. Since December of the previous year, discussions have been ongoing to sell two business units to Airbus and Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky, but CEO Paul Saleh confirmed the termination of these negotiations on Tuesday. Atos is exploring "strategic alternatives" and is currently engaging with banks to seek debt recapitalization, aiming to finalize a plan by July.

Various Dutch government bodies that are clients of Atos are closely monitoring the situation. As reported by NRC on Tuesday, Atos is involved in projects for the Dutch Defense Department, the Social Insurance Bank, and the Care Assessment Center, managing critical data for hundreds of thousands of Dutch citizens.

The SVB and Defense have confirmed discussions with Atos and are prepared to take necessary steps in the event of its insolvency. The CIZ is also making arrangements to ensure continuity of services for clients and healthcare providers. While refraining from disclosing specific details, Defense is exploring alternative partnerships to mitigate potential impacts, as stated to NRC.

Atos assured NRC that the company foresees no risks to service continuation and attested to the stability of its Dutch operations and financial strength. Atos's collaborations extend to government services in Belgium as well.
