Reports indicate that game publisher and developer Activision is currently looking into reports of stolen credentials from Call of Duty players. According to sources cited by TechCrunch, the extent of the theft and the individuals responsible for the hacking remain unknown.

The alleged thieves are believed to have focused on obtaining the login information for Call of Duty players and their crypto wallets, as noted by TechCrunch. This sensitive data is acquired through the use of malware that infects the victims' computers. The specific type of malware utilized and the identity of the targeted players have yet to be disclosed.

An unnamed source involved in the investigation disclosed that Activision is reaching out to those affected by the security breach. "The method of malware dissemination is currently unclear, and it is possible that only individuals with certain third-party applications installed are at risk," the source explained. A representative from Activision informed TechCrunch that the company is aware of the situation and assures that their servers are "secure."

The malware scheme was reportedly initially detected by Zeebler, a developer of cheating software. After learning that a customer of PhantomOverlay, a cheat provider, had their account compromised, Zeebler conducted a thorough investigation and identified the database containing stolen login credentials being compiled by the hackers, as detailed by TechCrunch. While some of the stolen logins were examined by the news outlet to confirm their authenticity, the age of the pilfered data remains uncertain.
